More than a barn visit: The Start of Something Special

by Vinnie Smith

JVS Advisory Board Chairman

At Justa Victory Stables, we believe the foundation of any successful partnership starts with shared values. Recently, JVS Advisory Board Chairman Vinnie Smith and Board Member Bobby Myers had the opportunity to spend time with our newest trainer, Adrianne De Vaux, at her barn on the Oklahoma Training Track in Saratoga.

From the very beginning, Adrianne demonstrated the qualities we look for in a trainer. In the days leading up to the visit, she maintained regular communication to ensure everything was coordinated and that plenty of time was set aside for us to meet, tour the barn, and learn more about her operation. For a trainer with such a demanding schedule and a barn to tend to, Adrianne made a point to ensure she was available and that our visit would be worthwhile. That level of communication amd professionalism spoke volumes to me!!!

Upon arriving at the barn, we were warmly welcomed by Adrianne and her team. She took the time to personally introduce us to her staff and walk us through the barn. The facility was immaculate, and every horse under her care looked healthy, happy, and well-managed. Clean stalls, fresh bedding, quality hay, and meticulous attention to detail were evident throughout the operation.

As we toured the barn, Adrianne shared the stories behind each horse and offered insight into her training philosophy. What stood out most was her commitment to putting the horse first. Throughout our conversations, she emphasized the importance of patience, horsemanship, honest communication, and building strong relationships with owners.

Over the course of the morning, we discussed everything from our individual journeys into horse racing to training methods and what she looks for when evaluating claiming prospects. Her knowledge, passion, and thoughtful approach to the game were evident in every conversation.

When Bobby arrived, he received the same warm welcome. Together, they exchanged stories from their Standardbred backgrounds and discussed their aspirations in Thoroughbred racing. It quickly became clear that there was a natural alignment between Adrianne’s approach and the values that guide Justa Victory Stables.

One of the most impressive aspects of the visit was how Adrianne made us feel like part of her extended racing family. Throughout the morning, owners, jockeys, trainers, and NYRA officials stopped by, and Adrianne made a point to introduce us and include Justa Victory Stables in every conversation. Her willingness to build relationships and create a welcoming environment spoke volumes about her character.

The visit concluded with a walk over to the Oklahoma Training Track to watch morning workouts. As we observed the activity and reflected on the day, one thing became clear: we are incredibly excited about the future of this partnership.

At Justa Victory Stables, we are committed to partnering with horsemen and horsewomen who share our belief in putting the horse first, communicating openly, and treating owners like family. After spending time with Adrianne De Vaux, we are confident we have found exactly that.

We look forward to the opportunities ahead and are excited to continue building something special together with Adrianne DeVaux Racing.
